UK Music Scene: Streaming Slows, Vinyl Rocks!
Hey music lovers, here’s the scoop! In 2025, UK fans shelled out an impressive £2.045 billion on music streaming subscriptions. That’s a neat boost of £63 million from 2024, but believe it or not, it’s the slowest growth rate we've seen since 2020. Streaming might be cooling off, yet vinyl is totally stealing the show with sales soaring by a wild 18.5%!
The Entertainment Retailers' Association (ERA) spilled the beans on this trend, which stands out super clearly against a steaming inflation rate of 3.2%. The subscription world barely kept up, growing at a matching pace. But rewind a few years, and you’d find growth rates exploding in double digits!
Spotify may have bumped up its prices three times since 2023, with Premium Individual now at £12.99, but that didn’t stop physical music from making a comeback. UK’s physical music revenues hit £368.1 million, thanks to a massive vinyl comeback.
Meanwhile, digital downloads continued to fade, dropping 3.5% to £39.9 million. So, whether you're dropping a needle on a vinyl track or streaming your favs, it's a dynamic time in music. Rock on, UK!
